Palouse Falls State Park

Palouse Falls State Park lies in the southeastern quadrant of Washington State.

As you drive to the park you pass through some pretty desolate places, but as you near the park things get interesting.

Here the falls are bathed in moonlight…

and here under the Milky Way.

Sequim Lavender Festival

The Sequim Lavender Festival officially runs July 21st, 22nd and 23rd. The lavender is already starting to bloom, you can check out the Bloom Report here.

Sequim is on the Olympic Peninsula, to get there from Sedro-Woolley, I drive to Coupeville and take the ferry to Port Townsend. From there its about an hours drive to Sequim.

Here are some images earlier trips to the Sequim Lavender Festival.

And a few images from the ferry ride over!

Chasing wildflowers

Ah, the sweet freedom of the last day of school!

My journey took me through Edison , to the Samish River.

The daisies got me thinking about the Samish Overlook, and so I headed there.

A hang glider swooped and soared above.

Another perfect day… Looking forward to many more!

Samish Island Sunset

Images captured years ago, now seeing the light of day…

It was just one of those utterly unbelievably colorful sunsets.

There is no way to fake those colors!

Shi Shi Beach and Point of the Arches, Olympic National Park

Sedro-Woolley Color Run

First Annual Sedro-Woolley Color Run!

I was asked to cover the event and had a blast!

At the end of the race a met a group who recently finished, near the old bowling alley… asked them to do a bit of posing, and well, you can see for yourself…

Star Trails

Here are my first two efforts at star trails.

This image is from Friday night, at the Diablo Overlook, along Highway 20 in the North Cascades National Park

and this image was captured on Sunday night, along the Baker River in the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest.

The next new moon is June 23rd…I will be teaching a class on Night Sky Photography through the North Cascades Institute on Friday, June 23rd, details here.

OR if you’d like to go on a Night Sky Photo Tour, have a look here.

Skagit Valley Spring

Here are several images from the last week, roaming under Skagit Valley Skies…

Washington State Ferry

I arrived very early one February morning, at the Coupeville Ferry dock to catch the 7am boat to Port Townsend, on my way to Point of the Arches, in Olympic National Park.

As I drove the sky got better and better, I paid and parked, got some images of the boat arriving from Port Townsend.

I dont know if Ive ever seen a better sunrise, the colors were unbelievable. I have not edited the sky in these images, just the foregrounds a bit.

The ferry loaded, and I roamed the decks and passageways marveling in the most sumptuous light.

More Tulip Images!

I went out to the tulip fields before sunrise, managed to get a decent image with the stars, of you look closely you can see the arc of the Milky Way!
